Safe Space's Values
Harm-Reduction
We try our best to keep harm in this community at a minimum through preventative action.
Restorative Justice
We believe many (but not all) cases can be solved through rehabilitation and community care.
Communication
This is an important value to us since lack of communication kept this community unsafe for so long.
Social Change
We work for social change in any way we can. General social structures are heavily influencing our community.
Investigation
While we aren’t law enforcement we have our own guidelines for investigations and their conclusions.
Communication
We prioritize communication over assumption or cancellation, but we are only human and have our boundaries.
Collaboration
The key to longlasting change is collaborative actions of any size. We are always open to work with others.
Important Milestones on our nonprofit's path
While Beatbox Safe Space has only existed as a nonprofit since February of 2022, there have been several important milestones on our path in this short amount of time.
We’re hoping to update this little section with growing milestones as they happen.
July 2020
Beatbox Safe Space group chat is created by Beatboxer Sparx and other Women in Beatbox to be better connected.
November 2021
One sexual misconduct case triggers a cascade of survivors coming forward inside and outside of this group chat.
February 2022
Rose & Rabea found the nonprofit “Beatbox Safe Space” with the help of several beatboxers in the community.
March 2022
Several meetings for the betterment of the community are held with a group of organizers and influential beatboxers.
July 2022
Safe Space represents at an event for the first time with their extended team.
